Fiscal Year '08 was the first year of concentration on grants to individual teachers and individual classrooms. 

 Inclusion Projects have these requirements.

Scope of Services:

§        Select a specific assistive technology device (ATD) or program to use in an inclusion setting to accomplish a specific outcome.

§        Make information regarding the project available to peers from other LEAs.  The project must be open to visits by other interested teachers and to provide off-site peer consultation when possible and appropriate.

§        Make presentations when requested to peers and others interested in the project at conferences    and institutes sponsored by the Division of Special Education.

§        Submit an annual, end-of-year/project report within one month after the close of the school year but not later than the first Monday in August.

The TN AT Initiative requires that grantees provide data on the who's, what's, when's, where's and why's of their project(s) in the proposals as well as end of year reports. 

Support is provided in LEAs where Assistive Technology is  introduced as a trial of the ATD.  Rural settings receive preference for funding for Inclusion projects. 

Future grants will be limited to $5,000.00 per year for up to three years.  Our priority is to increase the exposure of assistive technology in Tennessee schools.
