ASSISTIVE TECHNOLOGY GRANTS

The Division of Special Education supports projects that promote the use of Assistive Technology (AT) in programs that directly and indirectly serve students having disabilities. AT projects cover a wide range of service possibilities:

• (A)  “Full-service” assistive technology centers that serve a consortium of local school systems and serve other LEAs as requested.

• (B)  Training resources to in-state institutions of higher education, special and general education teacher preparation programs

• (C)  Projects that use a particular assistive device or system with a finite population of students in INCLUSION classrooms

• (D)  Projects that cooperatively involve  special education programs in  local school systems with universitiy-based Departments of  Engineering where engineering students modify or fabricate systems or devices needed by young children and their families.
